Company Founded

Founded by David and Alison Byers as DJ Byers Contract Supplies Limited, the company began operations from a home office in West Yorkshire.

Its mission was to deliver high-quality electronic and physical security solutions to businesses throughout the United Kingdom, laying the foundations for its growth within the commercial security industry.

Early Growth and Development

The name was changed to DJ Byers Limited. The company built its foundation in CCTV, access control, alarm systems, and integrated security solutions.

The company developed expertise in delivering solutions on every aspect of commercial security with DJ Byers, establishing itself as a specialist in the Yorkshire region.

Expansion into new Premises

Following continued success across the UK and a growing customer base, we relocated to larger premises in Ferrybridge. The move brought our office and workshop facilities together, improving efficiency and communication, enabling faster response times and providing greater support for our engineering operations.

Industry Recognition

DJ Byers became the first SSAIB CCTV Specialist to be awarded the Certificate of Excellence, marking a significant milestone in industry recognition.

SSAIB (Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board) certification is a prestigious mark of quality in the UK security industry.

Patrick Byers joined the Company

Patrick's involvement represents the second generation of the Byers family. His progression from joining to becoming Technical Director demonstrates a commitment to growing and evolving the business with new technical expertise and innovation.

The company has successfully evolved from a traditional security systems provider to one capable of delivering fully integrated, turnkey solutions and mobile surveillance platforms under Patrick’s technical leadership.

30th Anniversary

DJ Byers celebrates three decades in business, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality CCTV and security solutions across manufacturing, commercial, education, and healthcare environments.

DJ Byers Security Solutions

 As the business expanded into international markets, DJ Byers Limited was renamed DJ Byers Security Solutions. The change reflected the company's broader scope of operations, encompassing the design and delivery of engineered integrated security solutions within the UK, together with major border security and coastal surveillance programmes throughout the Middle East and Asia.

Company Name Change

In August 2018, the company changed its name from DJ Byers Security Solutions Limited to DJ Byers Engineered Security, reflecting its strong design led ethos and commitment to delivering tailored solutions for every valued customer.

New Home

Following further expansion, DJ Byers moved to larger premises at Presidian House in Castleford. The move provided more spacious workshops, stores and administration areas, together with a large pre-build area, dedicated training rooms and a demonstration suite.

These enhanced facilities enabled us to deliver more comprehensive training for our engineers, while the large pre-build area allows systems to be assembled, configured and tested before installation. The demonstration suite also enables both new and existing customers to experience the very latest security solutions in a real-world setting.

Ultimately, Presidian House demonstrates DJ Byers’ continued commitment to investing in our people, improving their working environment, and ensuring we have the facilities in place to support our valued clients.

Expansion of Advanced Security Solutions

In 2020, DJ Byers expanded its Advanced Security Solutions portfolio, further strengthening its ability to support high-risk, high-security environments with engineered, mission-critical protection.

This expansion was driven by in-house development of specialist solutions, including Presidian, our mobile border surveillance and C-UAS solution, and Zyklone, our acoustic hailing device. These innovations complemented a wider portfolio of technologies including long-range thermal imaging, drone detection, surveillance radar, vehicle mitigation and coordinated control room solutions.

Today, these solutions support clients across the UK, Middle East and Asia, reflecting DJ Byers’ continued commitment to innovation, operational resilience and the delivery of engineered security solutions for demanding environments.
